Alicia Almendros

Born into a family of emigrants, I embrace multiculturality. I find environments where multiple languages and cultures merge nurturing, and I thrive in them. In 1981 I obtained a degree in Germanic Philology from the University of Barcelona (UB). I discovered my passion for translation during my time as a Spanish teacher at the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the University of Hildesheim, in Germany. Since then, I have lived in several European cities, and dedicated myself exclusively to being a translator, specializing in various fields. I have worked as a freelance translator for the European Community, collaborated in translation units of German and multinational enterprises, participated in multilingual teams at conferences of international organizations, and have been a contributor to several publishing houses. I have also given expert opinions on translations, advised communication agencies on the drafting of advertising texts, and recruited staff to build translation departments.
